Message from The Chairman 24th February 2008

As we can see from the results on a weekly basis, the club continues to build on its strengths and to battle hard to improve any weaknesses. A big"well done and keep it up" must go out to all the boys, girls, coaches, managers and parents that make this club what it is.

However, we must not get complacent and we have to remind ourselves of the high standards that we endeavour to maintain. Unfortunately we get no leadership from the various professional football associations with regard to player and spectator behaviour and have to battle against a continuous tide of broadcast bad language and behaviour from our so called "heroes".

To this end I would remind everyone that is connected with Glebe Football Club and wears its proud name not to stoop to the levels of others clubs and maintain discipline both on and around the pitch at all times. Referees and linesmen volunteer to do these jobs and will always do them to the best of their ability. Managers and coaches run teams because they enjoy it and see the rewards by watching the teams play football. All of this goodwill can so easily be undone by careless or malicious comments and actions. At this point the club disintegrates and too many people will lose out if that happens.

Remember the codes of conduct for a "Glebe" person and enjoy "the beautiful game"

Message from The Chairman 5th November 2007

A fine early winter weekend, and some excellent performances. 17 games played this weekend, and well over half finished with a Glebe team victorious. Well done to all our team members.

This week we have some good and some worrying to report. Unfortunately I have to draw your attention to the touchlines for matches.

It is I am afraid more and more necessary for all of us to be aware who is watching our matches. We are hearing of people claiming to be scouts, friends or relatives in order to watches our children play for the wrong reasons.

I am sure that Chris Dickinson our FA qualified and appointed Child Welfare Officer will be giving your managers more information on this subject in months to come, but in the meantime, if you do not know or recognise someone watching a match, please challenge them. Scouts have to carry identification and should show this to the manager on arrival. Otherwise ask them to leave and inform the club afterwards so that we can take any action necessary.

The good part is much more encouraging. I was lucky enough to see four Glebe games this weekend as was very pleased at the support our teams are getting.

Whole families are turning out to watch their child play. This gives some much more to those on the pitch and from what I saw this weekend the support was hearty but fair and good natured.

Well done to many of our coaching staff as well for being there to watch the fruit of their labours.

Keep up the good work everyone and remember that feedback. Send it to you manager, soccer rep, secretary or me, we all want to see it.

Message from The Chairman 14th October 2007

We continue to progress well in all divisions albeit with some shaky starts continued or turned round with grit and determination by all the players.

Great work and lets keep it up.

The big news is the club tour. After last minute changes and a new venue, we have a great weekend planned. Please contact your managers, take a look, and work your hardest to get a team to go.

In previous years we have had over 200 people attend our annual tour bringing home our Lion share of trophies.

Can we make 2008 even more enjoyable and 'silver clad' ?

Game Officials;- every game needs them and we should all endeavor to do our part to help. As we all know, every member of the club must respect and obey and match official.

To this end, how about considering becoming an official for your team with some professional training. (We can provide pro-training) The club is always here to help and support, and you will find some of the most unusual people make the best of referees.......

As Autumn is here.... and as Winter approaches, stay in contact with your managers and the website as games or training may sometimes to be moved at short notice. (The usual applies, all matches usually confirmed on the website THURSDAY EVENINGS......however final confirmation is always with your managers.

We will do what we can to let you know, but help us pass on messages.

Keep the feedback coming, keep it coming...

And so it begins...

Under 13's do it again and lead the Kent League on goal diff. All the other teams finally get some League action as well this week, so many a tired parent seen on the touchlines. The work done throughout the summer by managers and coaches has paid off with 9 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses.

Congratulations to everyone.

New kits have finally arrived and been distributed. We again thank our sponsor Abacus Developments (London) Ltd for their support and our
secretary for getting them ordered and printed. Any problems please contact the secretary as soon as possible.

Training schedules are pretty much finalised and posted on the web for the
next few weeks. Mid week training for the younger teams is still being finalised but with light evenings still with us for another couple of weeks, floodlights are not essential yet.

We are still looking for volunteers to help out with vital roles in the club, from social events, communications and general admin. Please do think if you have that spare few hours to help us all.

London FA/League courses - Any managers, admin assistants or parents keen to take a more active role or learn new parts of the game, there are many courses organised throughout the year in coaching, refereeing, linesman or club roles. Many of these are free and well run and are very worthwhile. Contact your manager, director of soccer or the secretary if interested.

Keep the feedback coming to us, so that we can work to ensuring that it is all positive.

Message from the Chairman 10 Sept 07

Congratulations to our under 13's who have started their season earlier than most of the other teams. A 7-1 league win and a 6-2 London Cup win under there belts, gives us all something to copy.

The Marathon tournament was attended by many of our team this weekend. Results are still filtering through but well done to all those that attended. There were other tournaments taken place as well, so we get you the clubs results up on the web as soon as we can.

The 16th September looks like the start of the season for most of our teams. New season, new kit and for many a new league and opposition. Good luck to everyone.

The start of the season always has its teething troubles, so anything anyone is struggling with please let us know so that we can sort it as soon as possible. Contact managers, your respective soccer directors, the secretary or myself. The sooner we know of problems, the quicker they are dealt with.

Message from the Chairman 03 Sept 07

Dear Club Member

Welcome to Glebe FC for the 2007/8 season. In joining the club at the moment, you are either starting new or continuing to support one of the strongest clubs associated with The London FA. With our first team entered in the Kent league, some of our more senior teams continue in the SelKent and Tandridge Leagues and our mini soccer teams also joining the Tandridge League there is a lot that is changing but at the same time it is an exciting time for the club. The members of the managers and executive committee remain committed to providing you all premier facilities, coaches and equipment by which we as a club can continue to promote the development of youth soccer in the local community.

The club is still awaiting the award of our community status but I will
hopefully have more on that before the start of the season. As I have said many times previously, this is your club and it depends hugely on your involvement, feedback and support.

We have for this year a new communications officer in charge of keeping you all more in touch with plans, developments and achievements throughout the club. In addition our club development team will be keeping you posted of our longer term aims to maintain our excellent record in competitions and in the community.

Our Social team is yet to be finalised, so if anyone would like to help us devise more enjoyable and fun ways of bringing the club together more frequently and at the same time raise some funds, please let us know. Feedback will also be a word you will hear a lot of this year. Let us know what you want from your club, let us know what your club is doing that you enjoy and applaud, and if there is anything that concerns you, we need to know that as well. I will draw your attention to some of the more important parts of this pack. Our club rules are there for a reason and are there to be respected.

Our code of conduct is structured and balanced to ensure we all enjoy our club to the maximum without any of the negatives that we hear of so much these days in our day to day life. Our child protection policies are aligned to The London FA's to ensure a safe environment for the players. The registration forms are necessary and need to be completed carefully to ensure fair and even competition Thank you for electing me for this season, and along with everyone I hope that this time next year we can all be looking forward to another year with Glebe FC.

Good luck
