Darwin FC 1 v Glebe FC 6
At last a match!
Our away game at Darwin Fc was our first match for two weeks as this frustrating season progresses. Due to sickness our squad became depleted for this match with only eleven fit players but throughout the season the boys that have represented the team have always put their best foot forward and eventually produced a pleasing performance with some notable performances. Kicking up hill in the first half on a narrow pitch our defense of Reid, Tomas, Stefan and captain Reece with help from our midfield played solidly, up front Lewis and Liam started to cause there defense some problems and we quickly took an early lead when Jack burst through from midfield to score. This was quickly followed up with another goal when Liam drilled in a corner that there keeper found to hot to handle. After that some very good creative play was ruined by some bad finishing which we hope was down to lack of match practice, even with the poor finishing we took a 2 goal lead to half time. Second half was pretty much the same as the first with our solid defense and central midfield of Toby and Jack dominating procession and creating numerous chances that we failed to take until Jack powering forward from midfield managed to tuck in another three goals taking his tally to four in the match, disappointingly we conceded a consolation goal before Tomas netted from a corner to make it 6-1.
