Match reports
V Oakwood ( Home ) 7th March.
Result : Glebe 1 Oakwood 3
The last time meeting between the teams produced one of the matches of the season in entertainment and this was no different although with a reduced amount of goals.
Oak wood started confidently as befits their second place league position but our back four led by Jordan saw off the early attacks and it was Glebe who produced the best chance .Oakwood's keeper produced an excellent block to keep Michael out and and then bravely plunged at Stefan's feet to prevent a goal in a subsequent attack.
As ever at this level if the chances are not converted you can get caught out and so it was when Oakwood scored after 20 minutes when we hesitated just a second toolong in clearing our area. Fired up Oakwood launched attack after attack but Glebe stood firm and Josh pulled off some brave and confident saves.
After half time some tactical changes were made and Glebe got back in the match when Elliot finished from a Jordan free kick and for the next 15 minutes there was nothing between the sides as each fought hard to find a breakthrough. Jake was determination itself at the back well supported by Ryan and Joe. The midfield led by Mitchell and Aaron with Aodhan coming on in support looked comfortable. Ollie
worked furiously in support of Stefan.
Glebe matchedtheir opponents all over the pitch and it seemed a draw was on the cards as we entered the final 10 minutes. From a throw in Oakwood got hold of a loose ball in the Glebe box and fired in off the crossbar and then grabbed a second 4 minutes later to seal the win .
Though no doubt disappointed at the whistle the boys should hold their heads high as they battled and took the game to Oakwood throughout the match which again provided football of a very high standard and entertained the spectators.
V Croydon Athletic ( Away ) 14th February.
Result Croydon Athletic 1 Glebe 0
Despite both teams having to make several changes due to half term ski trips the boys from both sides produced an exciting encounter that kept all interested till the final whistle was blown.
Croydon had the better of the early encounters looking really up for it and constantly challenged for possession. Following a free kick Glebe failed to defend deep enough
and a chipped ball over the top caused problems leading to a fine strike which Aodhan did well to get to but could not keep out. Undeterred Glebe regrouped and were unlucky not to have the equaliser when Ollies shot hit the post.
As the second half wore on Glebe pressed furiously to get the equaliser and a couple of half chances came and went. In the last minute Joshua was put through and finished superbly only for the linesman's flag to be raised indicating an offside. Disappointment for the boys at the final whistle but they are all to be congratulated on the 100% never give up attitude which will serve them well in the coming matches.
V OAKWOOD ( Away ) 31st January.
Result Oakwood 5 Glebe 4
The difficult journey to Gatwick was rewarded by an excellent game. . Oakwood rolled up expecting to demolish us as befits a team riding high in the division . However Glebe prevented any early dominance from the opposition and held out comfortably until the ref overruled the linesman's offside flag and allowed a goal to Oakwood. Undeterred the boys battled back and following a corner Elliot hit a superb cross for Jordan to sidefoot home . Oakwood came back after Glebe had gone very close on a couple of occasions to snatch further goals but Stefan grabbed one to make it 3-2 before Oakwood restored their 2 goal cushion with number 4 . With space opening up all over the pitch the final third of the match saw some wonderful attacking football from both sides. Michael got his first of the season with a cool finish .Oakwood got their 5th and there was still time for Stefan to run through and finish well for number 4. The ref blew bang on time and handshakes were exchanged all round . Can't believe your league position said the Oakwood manager " you played so well" . They say luck evens out over the season so in the second half we should be due some big breaks !!
Tandridge Shield 1st Round

Ex Blues New Beckenham 1 Glebe A 4
While fixtures all around fell victim to the weather our cup match went ahead in testing weather conditions that meant this was not going to be a game for the faint hearted. New Beckenham decided to pack the defence with a rigid back 5 and a few more just in front of them hoping to catch us on the break. Despite a huge amount of hard work from the team a frustrating half developed as New Beckenham prevented the breakthrough, until Aaron met Ollie's excellent corner to head us in front.
Any hope that would open the floodgates (apart from the rainfall from the sky) was denied as New Beckenham held out without threatening themselves. Frustration was evident in the teams faces as they walked off at half time. " Don't panic keep up the effort and it will come were the managers messages at half time.
In the second we pushed forward again, regularly winning the midfield battle and looking for the next goal. Ryan was superb, winning ball after ball and then intelligently setting our attacks in motion. Elliot tormented his markers twisting and turning and supplying a stream of crosses and through balls. A defence splitting pass from Elliot found Stefan who broke through to fire past the keeper. Still New Beckenham battled and came back at us to score through their big number 9 to keep the game alive. Was a cup upset on the cards?
But any sign that we were not up for the cup were put to bed as a tiring New Beckenham defence failed to cope with Stefan who notched his 2nd and 3rd goals to see us through. A great team effort and squad effort in very difficult conditions, the last 15 minutes being played out in severe winds and torrential rain.
Banstead Town 2 Glebe A 2
(14th November )
After two days of constant rain the expectation that a morning of PlayStation or X Box replacing football seemed likely . However Banstead declared the pitch playable and off we went to the recreation ground keen to build on last weeks result. Things didnt seem to go according to plan as Banstead took the game to us and gained an early lead which they held till half time despite Stefan going close on a couple of occasions.
The team put in a great effort in the second half to get back into the match with Michael everywhere trying to drive the team forward. Reward was gained when Aodhan started a move that saw Elliot snap up the equaliser and then from a Mitchell through ball Ollie cut in and smashed the ball past the keeper.
Banstead laid siege to the goal in the last 20 minutes managed the equaliser but the boys battled hard and defended brilliantly to keep them out.
Special mention to goalie Joe who bravely got down on several one on ones at the forwards feet to defy the opposition.
Well done boysits the cup next week so lets be up for that too!
V Doverhouse Lions B Nov. 8th ( home )
We last played Doverhouse on the opening day of the season when it's fair to say they strolled to a win while we all got to know each other . Not so this time as Doverhouse got a shock as the boys , clearly up for it tore into them. After 5 minutes Aidan drifted a long range shot over the keeper for 1-0 and within minutes Stefan pounced to open his account with the team when the keeper could only parry Samuel's header to make it 2-0. Michael, Aaron and Mitchell were immense in preventing Doverhouse from making progress. Joseph when called into action produced an excellent full length save to defy them. As half time approached Doverhouse found a way back into the match with a splendid drive which flew into the net. There was still time for Elliot to restore the lead before half time. Second half showed Aodhan demonstrated his versatility taking over goalkeeping duties and defying Doverhouse with several timely interceptions and saves. The game ebbed and flowed, Jordan and Prince stood firm in the middle while Ryan and Jake combated the threats elsewhere. Doverhouse snatched back a goal before Oliver grabbed a 4th and Doverhouse quickly responded with their 3rd. Dylan came into the fray to hold things together but Doverhouse to their credit refused to give up and grabbed an equaliser. 4-4 Final Score and everyone shook hands and acknowledged a great performance from both teams with respect gained on both sides.
