Glebe U14 v Ex Blues F.C.
Nov. 8th 2009, k.o. 10.30 at HSBC Sports Ground, Beckenham
Glebe Team, Jack, Alex S., Alex W., Harry, Kes, Darryl, Dom
Ryan, Joe, Trevone, Miles, Josh T., Josh R, Kaiyo
After a rather disappointing game with St.Andrews last week, and the a very wet and windy Friday night training the Glebe boys arrived in good humour and well prepared for this match.
First Half subs Kes, Trevone and Josh R.
Glebe had the kick off and went straight on the attack pressuring the Ex Blues goal.
Within minutes Ex Blues were retaliating and nearly scored through a misplaced header.
For the next few minutes possession was reasonably even being defended and attacked by both sides, Alex S. taking a lot of pressure from one of Ex Blues players.
Approximately 10 mins in Ryan accepted a pass from Joe, within Ex Blues half, and released a 30 yard shot on goal. The ball found its target, back of the net, 1-0 to the Glebe.
Kick off to Ex Blues, the ball being pushed quickly into the Glebes half of the field,
bouncing badly, was misjudged by Alex S. and rolled into the back of the net. 1-1
Subs on, Trevone for Ryan, the game progressed, pressure being made from the Glebe boys.
Around the 25 minutes in Joe got caught up in Ex Blues area, penalty given.
Josh T. told to take. Ball in the back of the net. 2-1 to the Glebe. Subs Kaiyo off and Josh R. on.
Ex Blues to kick off but the pressure from them was equally met by our midfield and defence.
Ex Blues trying their upmost to equalize, but the Glebe boys bit in and kept them for scoring.
Last subs Dom off and Kes on to strenthen our defence for the last few minutes before half time.
Second Half subs Dom, Darryl, and Ryan
Ex Blues to kick off and instantly started pressurising for goals, but the Glebe boys were not willing to just sit back and loose this game, besides the last three games had shown that in the second half of the game they have played their best football.
After 3 mins. in a break came and Miles wanted to quench his thirst for goals, saw an opportunity, ball in the net 3-1. Then 4 mins later Kaiyo saw another opportunity, 4-1.
The game was most definitely more in the Glebes favour now, but they had no intention of just giving up. Miles saw another opening for a shot on goal, 5-1 to the Glebe
All during this time the rest of the team of goalie Alex S., defence of Harry,
Alex W, Kes, Dom, and Darryl, along with the various substitutions that were happening,
the pressure was kept in Ex Blues end of the field, consistently passing the ball upfield to
Jack, Trevone, Joe, Ryan, Josh T, Josh R, and Miles to score, and that they did.
Miles saw another opportunity, accepting a pass from Trevone, just on the outside of the Ex Blues area to slide into the net just between their goalie and the post. 6-1 to the Glebe.
Trevone was now wanting to get into the act, saw his chance, 7-1. Final score.
This had been an enjoyable game to be a spectator and a supporter at.
The Glebe boys showed exactly what they were capable of doing, with their determination and strength.
Excellent passing, good defence and attack, solid goalkeeping, and polished scoring.
14 boys that fought and supported each other. Well Done.
Next Week Storm F.C. at home. This time we have a full team. Look out Storm
Glebe U14 v St.Andrews Youth Club F.C.
Nov. 1st 2009, k.o 13.00 at Bromley Cricket Club Ground
Glebe Team; Jack, Alex S., Alex W., Harry, Kes, Darryl, Dom,
Ryan, Alex Mc, Joe, Trevone, Miles, Josh T.,
On a wet and windy morning the call came from the boss Game on, see you as arranged. Shame, we all expected it to be cancelled, but when arriving at the ground, waiting for a previous game to finish, the weather improved. Now all we needed was to get ours started. On the last two occasions that St. Andrews played a Glebe B team the sores ended up a draw 4-4 and 0-0.
First Half subs Dom and Darryl.
St. Andrews had the initial kick off, and as expected went on the attack. The possession, initially for the first few minutes went quite evenly between the two teams, then within 10 minutes, Glebe broke down the right hand wing, Miles took a shot, goal to Glebe. 1-0. Great Start.
St.Andrews again kicking off and this then started their attack and the onslaught of goals, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1. All this within 15 to 20 minutes, and the problem was that each one of them were soft goals, which showed that at least our defence and midfield were stopping St.Andrews from having complete domination of this match.
During this time Ryan was subbed for Darryl, and Harry for Dom. Hopefully this might help
to stop their onslaught. Kes nearly came off with concussion whilst trying to head a clearance and hit the goal post instead. It slowed St. Andrews down a bit, but then they had a corner in their favour and managed to score a decent header. 6-1 gratefully the half time whistle went.
Now it was our manager Andys time to try to get the momentum back into the Glebe boys game., for football is always a game of two halfs.
Second Half subs Ryan and Kes
Glebe kicked off and needed to pressurise St. Andrews to get anything from this game. They had a uphill struggle, but it was quite obvious that the half time Managers talk had put the motivation back into them.
St.Andrews were gaining possession of the ball but each time the Glebe boys were stopping them from trying to score more goals. The possession was reasonably even, being slightly in the favour of Glebe. A couple of shots were made on goal, either missing, being saved by Alex S., or having Darryl clear one off the line. Glebe were on the attack with Jack leading by example, with himself, Miles and Trevone having shots on goal.
At around 15 minutes in a free kick was given to Glebe for a pushing offence on Dom.
Miles took the kick passing to Jack, the ball then being passed into Alex Mc. who initially fumbled the control, managed to retrieve and have a shot at goal. Their goalie saved but did not get full control. Alex Mc pounced, ball in the back of the net. Second goal to the Glebe. Managers chat at half time was working.
St.Andrews kicked off realising that our boys were not just going to give in on this game. Trevone was subbed for Ryan and Harry for Kes, Ryan immediately started putting pressure on St. Andrews with two shots on goal, one being saved and the other, unfortunately missing.
Another free kick was awarded to Glebe, just inside our half, Alex W. to take. St.Andrews lined up their defence on the 10 yards, expecting the ball to go no further not realising the power behind his left foot. Shot taken, over their wall, heading for goal, unfortunately missing.
St. Andrews came on the attack and at around 27 minutes in managed to score another soft goal. 8-2 to St. Andrews. Final Score
Glebe held on but unfortunately were beaten this time.
Well played by the Glebe boys especially Josh T. on only his second game with the team.
General Stats

Match Report Glebe B U14 v Storm FC
Oct 25th 10.00 k.o. Ashburton Playing Fields, West Wickham
Glebe Team; Alex S., Alex W, Dom (capt.) Harry, Kes
Ryan, Trevone, Miles, Joe, Alex Mc., Josh R.
Having now played the first quarter of this season Wallington Wanders, St. Andrews and Balgowan
are showing their strength in the games they have already played.
Chipstead, Ex Blues, Storm and Glebe are battling for the top place of the middle section, with Warlingham Colts and Farleigh holding the next two slots, therefore this weeks game against Storm FC was an important one for Glebe
Storm had played four games so far, loosing their first two to Balgowan and St.Andrews and recently beating Chislehurst 2 - 0 and Ex Blues 3 -1.
Glebe had also played four league games having also won two, drawn one and lost one, but Storm were not aware of the beating of Wickham Wanders, from a league above ours.
Unfortunately we were fielding a weaker team this week due to Jack and Josh T not being available, Kaiyo calling in sick, and Darryl supporting but not able to play due to a hamstring injury.
Glebe had the initial kick off but soon ran into the battling of a ten man Storm team, and a couple of rather smaller than usual players with excellent skills and speed.
The midfield of Joe and Alex Mc. along with Miles, Trevone and Josh R, kept up the pressure and managed to get in some early shots on goal, one especially from our captain for the day, Dom.
Glebes defence of Alex W., Kes , Harry and Dom were soon coming under attack. Storm had much of the possession especially from their numbers five and six breaking down our left hand side of the pitch, Dom and Alex W trying their upmost to keep them at bay. After approx. 10 minutes in a cluster around our goal mouth gave Storm the opportunity they required, ball in the net, 1-0 to Storm.
Glebe came out on the attack but just kept getting caught up in Storms midfield area. Around 20 minutes in their number six broke away this time managing a cross towards our goal, saved by Alex S, but not fully controlled, and swiftly pounced on by a Storm player, goal number two. 2-0 to Storm
Glebe came on the attack as would be expected but another blow came before the half time whistle, Ryan had an asthma attack, now down to ten men Glebe managed to hold on till the half time whistle.
Storm to kick off and immediately went on the attack of the Glebe goal, but they were stopped in their tracks by Alex W, sending the ball upfield into Storms half of the pitch attacking Storms goal
Glebe were pressuring for equalisers and four minutes in Miles had a shot, unfortunately saved.
Various possessions went back and forth and after four minutes Trevone tried a shot, again saved.
Storm tried various return attacks during this period either deterred by our defence or saved by Alex S.
Sixteen minutes into this half the efforts from Glebe paid off with the pressure from our midfield
on the Storm goal allowing Alec Mc. Deservedly, putting the ball into their back of their net. 2-1.
Storm again tried to put the pressure on from their kick off, but Glebe were now not willing to cave in.
More than ever they were hungry for more goals and at least a draw, with this in mind Alex W. started to move further up the field, along with the assistance of Kes and the rest of the defence hoping to try to use their combined kicking strengths to either secure a goal or at least to place the ball into Storms goal area.
Storm tried to capitalise on this movement being aware of the gaps in our defence but were soon stopped
by either Harry, Dom, Alex S, or Kes and Alex W sprinting back to clear.
Possession went either way during these last few minutes; neither team getting a real advantage
until the final whistle. Final score 2-1 to Storm.
It was quite obvious that had Glebe been able to field a full strength team, Storm F.C. would not have even had the amount of possession that they had had, and the final score would have been more in Glebe,s favour.
Well done boys, again you showed your strength of character and determination.
Glebe had 6 shots on goal, missed 4, and 2 were saved, scored no goals. We had 3 corners.
Strom had 6 shots on goal, missed 4, scored 2. Also gad 3 corners.
The possession of the ball was 66 per cent to Storm, 33 per cent to Glebe.
Glebe had 6 shots on goal, missed 1, 3 were saved and scored 1. We had 3 corners.
Storm had 6 shots on goal, missed 2, 4 were saved, scored no goals. No corners taken.
Friendly between
Glebe U 14 B v Wickham Wanderers United
Oct. 18th 2009 12.00 k.o
at Bromley Cricket Ground
Glebe Team; Jack, Alex Sembi, Alex Woods, Harry, Dom, Darryl, Kes, Ryan, Miles, Trevone, Alex Mc., Joe, Kaiyo, Josh Tutt, Josh R.
This was the second time that Wickham had been invited to play against a Glebe Team.
The first encounter being with our A team, Wickham walking away with a 1-1 draw, against a team in a league above. How hard could this have been to now play against Glebes B team, in a league below.
Obviously they did not expect the strength and fighting ability of the Glebe B team
First Half: subs Miles, Dom and both Joshs
Wickham took the initial kick off and were swiftly on the attack of our goal.
The defence of Alex W., Harry, Kes, and Darryl, with Alex S. sitting behind them kept Wickham at bay, with Harry having to persistently clear the ball into the midfield of Jack, Kaiyo, Alex Mc., Ryan and Trevon, attacking Wickhams defence.
12 minutes in Ryan released a ball from approx. 30 yds. narrowly missing the opposing goal this was the first of a series of shots from Ryan on their goal, the last causing their goalie to make a save tipping the ball over the top. First corner to Glebe.
Around this time Kaiyo and Joe were released of their duties allowing Miles and our new signing
Josh Tutt, to show their ability, and then quite swiftly after Jack was replaced by Josh R. and Harry by Dom.
Miles was soon on the attack being fully supported by our midfield, found space and delivered a shot from outside of Wickhams area, the ball finding its home in the back of the net, 1-0 to Glebe.
Wickham started their attack for a equaliser, but before getting fully organised half time was called
Second Half: subs Ryan, Harry, Trevon, Alex Mc.
From the kick off Wickham came on the attack, taking the first opportunity to get possession and pressure our goal.
For what must have seemed a lifetime, although it was no more than 10 mins, Wickham kept on the pressure, and every clearance made by our defence being swiftly returned.
At this point Andy decided to replace Alex W. and Kes with Ryan and Harry.
Wickham desperately wanted that equaliser, but when you apply pressure with attack of this nature there is always a way out and Glebe found that opening, again releasing to Miles to score his second goal, 2-0 to Glebe.
Wickham again came on the attack but this time their effort was thwarted but Alex S. Giving what seemed a comfortable save, one of many.
Time for another change, Trevon replacing Miles and Alex Mc. Replacing Josh T.
At approx 20 mins in, after a reasonably even game going in the favour of Glebe, we were awarded a corner, taken by Jack, fumbled by the goalie, and with the mess of bodies around their goal Joe managed to push the ball over the line and into the net. 3-0 to Glebe.
Wickham now knew they had an uphill struggle to win this match having around 10 mins. left to play, possibly they could get at least a goal or two to save face, but Glebe were hungry for more, pressuring their goal even more.
Andy C. Was swiftly changing the teams positioning resting Darryl, and bringing on Alex W.and Kes, moving Ryan into a left back position, and taking off Kaiyo, giving some re-newed energy for the last few minutes.
This seemed to work for they held on until the final whistle went, 3-0 to Glebe the winners.
A good clean well fought game. Well done Glebe, first clean sheet, excellent match, keep it up
Team Comment
We played well as a team, supporting each other. We deserved the win.
Managers Comments
I am delighted with the progress of the team so far.
The results speak for themselves and whilst it is still early days, I am optimistic that if we work hard at training on keeping pressure on the ball at all times, we have loads of talent in the team to be towards the top.
The defence is slowly forming an understanding, the midfield is working hard very hard to feed then attack and the forwards are finishing well.
More Fitness required generally but we are a good team, lets continue to prove it to the other teams in our league.
