Bridon 1 Glebe 2
In a match that was all that was good and bad in kids football glebe beat local rivals bridon ropes convincingly at Bellingham. The players from both sides took part in a good game, spolit only by the childish behaviour of the bridon manager. Fortunately his asst was professional and continually apologised. I really wonder how parents put up with managers behaviour like this.
Glebe had to rea rrange their lne up with several strikers injured. Glebe opened with a stunning free kick from 35 yards by Jason. Glebe went further ahead when Robbo hit a screamer.
the game was played at high tempo, with glebe always dominant. In fact i thought we were worthy winners by a big margin had we taken our chances.
Bridon continually boast about how good their home record is. After today they will have to adjust their statistics. Its always mentioned in football that players have to learn to lose, this should start with the manager.
28th FEB 2010
Glebe 7 Tonbridge Angels 1
Glebe made it 7 wins out of 7 in 2010 with a comprehensive victory over Tonbridge Angels.
Glebe also went 5 points clear at the top of the kent youth league. We started very well creating several but not taken any chances. good interplay all over the pitch was bound to break down a determined 'Angels.
Ben Williams scored a superb individual goal cutting in from the right and hitting a sweet drive with his left foot. Jason and Raheem added 2nd and 3rd beore HT
Several changes were made at HT and the football stepped up a level. Kieran got on the end of a wonderful 7 man one touch move, Raheem and Jason added further goals.
Late on 'Angels got a consolation goal.
This was a really good performance, We have not been beaten in 6 months in league football.
March looks like a great month, At last we can gauge our improvement against highly placed teams - starting with Bridon on Sunday.
21st Feb 2010
Under 15 kent Youth
VCD 0 Glebe FC 3
Glebe went top of the league with a 3-0 win at VCD. Now we have to stay there. However we certainly didn't have it all our own way today.
A deluge before the star left the middle part of the pitch more fit for rice planting than football but both teams got on with it. fair to say VCD had better chances but failed to convert. glebe on the other had one chance and Raheem following a stunning ball from kieran raced 40 yards before chipping the goaly from a tight angle. Ht 1-0
we played down hill second half and although VCd battled brilliantly it was Robbo who popped up from midlfield with a 25 yard drive into the bottom corner. 2-0 . Sam Murray added a 3rd. A telling diversion,
into the top corner 3-0.
Both sets of players deserve plenty of plaudits for giving a real gutsy performance in difficult circumstance.
Glebe march on. well done to Jason on debut and we wish Elyon (who did not play today) a quick and speedy recovery.
14th Feb
Corinthian 0 Glebe FC 3
Corinthians is a lovely venue to play and as usual we were given a very warm welcome.
My thanks to Alison for coming along and doing the physio role today.
Glebe started well and were soon on top. the Corinthian keeper was sent off when he handballed outside the area to stop a certain goal.
We passed the ball around really well and it wasn't surprising when Raheem opened the scoring for us.
Glebe pressure showed again when the same player hit a really good second goal. We continued to dominate throughout against real gutsy opposition. Carson in defence having another fine game.
Left back Dom Cuffy popped up for an individual third. HT 3-0 Although we had plenty of chances in the second half we failed to score. We have now scored 101 goals in all competitions this season.
next week we have yet another difficult fixture at VCD where we will have to be at our best.
Cray Valley 1 Glebe FC 3
In a cracking game today at middle park Avenue, Eltham - Glebe ran out winners in a great game against Cray Valley. Glebe had early advantage but sometimes wasted the 'telling' ball. There was never much in it but when Glebe took a great corner from Ted, there was Elyon to head home. The game continued at a frantic pace and Memhet had a good run on the right finishing with a cracking shot low into the corner 2-0. HT
Cray came out strong and following another corner they scrambled home. The game was swinging end to end when out of nowhere 'Robbo' hit a 30 yarder into the roof of the net, 3-1
This was a great advertisement for kent youth Football. Refereed superbly well and played hard but fair by both teams. I wish Billy and his players all the best for the rest of the season.
GLEBE 5 CRAY WANDERERS 2
Glebe played a league game against Cray Wands at bellingham last sunday. The match saw our right back score a hat trick, Jack Blake score a hat tirck including 2 pens and a wonderful 30 yard power drive.
Raheem opened the scoring in the first 5 minutes with a stunning sissor kick.
Against the run of play Cray equalised. Glebe went in 3-1 at half time. untidy defending saw the visitors pull back before goals 4 and 5 hit home. Glebe have had a great start to this league unbeaten in ten, but the months ahead are long and tough. well done lads
GLEBE 3 FISHER 1
In a wonderful game today glebe finished up 3-1 winners with 2 goals from Elyon and one from troy.
But this was more than justa win today, it showed me the passion and commitment this bunch of lads are beginning to show for each other and the 'club'. Indeed the game was quite physically challenging with plenty of desire from both teams to win the ball. After our first game when Fisher dominated the midfield we changed our shape slightly ( due to illness and new players ) and looked much 'bigger#. With george Palmer back from injury carson was free to move into midfield where he played outstandingly well. However with a small squad of only 12 players today due to injuries and withdrawals this was really a great 'team' effort.
Elyon agains scored 2 outstanding goals but great great team work helped him , and troy tucked one away on his full debut.
superb
Thanks to Lee, Andy (Physio ) and Ivor for their help encouragement and support this week.
GLEBE 3 CRAY VALLEY 2
A cracking game at bellingham saw glebe come back from 2 down to win 3-2 against a big strong Cray side.
we started quite poorly with Lee gerry and myself praying for somebody to put their foot on the ball. Un fortunately they did, but it was a Cray player 0-1. Shortly after a defensive slip saw us go 0-2.
still there was plenty of time left and a really wonderful 5 man one touch move saw Elyon slot home.
HT 1-2
Changes were made to give us a bit more strength in midfield with Ricky and Troy, upfront making debuts.
Certainly the ferocity of the contest never dampened. we slowly made a few chances and a low cross from the right saw troy slide home. We pushed on and again Elyon, was too fast , rounded the goaly and scored another excellent goal. Cray pushed for an equalise but we held firm fro areally good win.
My thanks to the referee today who performed superbly.
Glebe U15(Kent) went out of the London cup yesterday.
On the day we under performed and were beaten by a team whose progression to the semi final of this competition clearly meant more to them than us.
I wish Ryan FC every success and congratulate on a thoroughly deserved win.
Glebe 3 VCD 3
Glebe maintained their unbeaten league record in a scrappy game today.
ON a sticky pitch after heavy overnight rain we started fairly brightly. Elyon opened our scoring when rounding the keeper to notch one home. We should have had a second goal when Ted followed in, only for the linesman to flag for a foul on the goalkeeper when we were all appealing for a penalty. VCD then got a penalty awarded to them- puzzled look. 1-1 Once again individual errors cost us 2 second half goals.
but goals from Ted and Again from Elyon saw us battle back to 3-3.
This was not a good display from us today. with 2 very important matches coming up, we simply need to take our training quality into matchday.
Match report 8th Nov 2009
Glebe Kent under 15s lost for the first time this season in a pulsating league cup tie at Thamesmead.
In a very competitive and hugely entertaining game there was very little between the 2 sides.
I felt we had the better of the first half and it was very much against the run ofplay when following we went 1-0
We had good chances in the first half but failed to convert.
similarly in the 2nd half we hit the cross bar and then went 2-nil downto a defensive error. still we stuck to the task and never gave up, Chris having his best game by far, scored a well taken goal. We had a massive appeal for a penalty turned down with the last kick of the game.
A very even game, showing the great strides we have made this season. Its always hurts to lose, but i would say positively we showed we can compete with the very top teams now.
As always thanks to Lee and Andy.
Match Report 1st Nov 2009...
Glebe FC 4 vs Tulse Hill 2
Glebe progressed to the last 8 of the London Cup with a hard fought victory over tulse hill,
In the first half we soon went 1-0 up with some smart work from Elyon. The same player scored on the stroke of half time.
We were playing reasonably well, but I felt we still lacked pace and in certain areas real commitmment
Our second half got off to a woeful start when we found ourselves outnumbered and Tulse scored 2-1. They scored again and it looked dangerous.
Following some great work from Ted on the left we socred again from J D and went 3-2 in front.
Elyon completed another hatrick with a fine goal to see us home 4-2. Tulse hill were really good up front.
Next week we take on Thamesmead in the League Cup, which should be a cracking tie.
Rocky
Match Report 25th Oct 2009...
Fisher Athletic 1 v Glebe 1
Glebe Under 15's sit second from top of the U15's Kent Youth League this evening.
In a tight game today dominated by both goal keepers, Glebe found themselves short of possession but with a lot of chances.
Although we scored a little late, I never thought we would lose a game against a team we dominated.
Given our situation last June with walk outs and players running, all our squad should feel proud of themselves.
Congratulations
Match Report 18th Oct 2009...
Cray Wanderers 3 v Glebe 4
On a horrible bumpy pitch , played on the old ground at Oxford Road, Sidcup, quality football was fairly difficult but we went ahead when Sam met a near post cross. Our Captain Elyon scored a screamer for the second and our best move of the season saw Carson take a quick free, Cuffy then sent in an Ashley Cole like cross and Elyan again heading home from 12 yards, 3-0 . Cray scored a disputable penalty on the stoke of HT 3-1 glebe//
We conceded a really soft goal which we will talk about in triaining to make it 3-2 and when Elyan was fouled, Adil converted the certain penalty. 4-2. We then had another penalty given against us. Both managers saw it as a blatant dive but they scored another penalty 4-3.
We played OK today, but I think if honest it was not one of our best performances. still if we win when we don't play well ....great , that will do.
have a good week
Match Report 11th Oct 2009...
South East Wanderers 0 Glebe FC 30
A record winning margin saw us safely through to the next stages of the prestigious London Cup.
Playing against a new club we scored goals fairly regularly. Ht reached 13 -0 and scored 17 in the second half.
I would like to pay compliments to our opposition. Despite losing heavily the lads continued to play their hearts out and at the end it was really sporting to see players and coaches shaking hands for several minutes.
Elyon scored 7, ben 5 with hattricks from Carson, Cuffy and Chris.
Congratulations to the under 15s on breaking the club record for goals scored
Regards
Match Report 4th Oct 2009...
Welling 3 v Glebe 4
A really cracking game saw glebe win in a 7 goal thriller. We certainly were slow out of the traps and Welling, who played really well, went 3-0 up in 20 minutes. Slowly we began to get back in tho the game and Ted finished a run by Elyan. ht 1-3
We made a few changes at HT.
Certainly with the slope and crowd behind us our play was much better.
Elyhan and Chris caused no end of problems for their defenders. Whilst Sami pulled of cracking saves.
Elyan, yet again got his brace with Chris netting the 4th.
This was as close as it gets. I feel both teams will do well this season but today we just about deserved it for our 2nd half performance
Match Report 27 Sept 2009...
Glebe 4 v Folkestone 1 (Kent League Cup)
Glebe continued with their impressive start to the season with a 4-1 win over Folkestone.
Hot and dry conditions made the pitch very hard and the ball bouncy.
The first 20 was not 'classic' but Glebe looked the better team. So it was when Sam scored a superb individual goal beating 2 and then shooting from an acute angle. HT 1-0.
Seconds into the second half and substitute Elyon powered through making it 2-0.
Minutes later the same player was simply too speedy and scored his second. Elyon rounded a 25 minute hatrick when he converted a penalty after he'd been taken down.
Folkestone kept going and got a long range consolation with minutes to go.
4 wins from 4 games and onto Welling who will be our sternest test yet.
regards
Match Report 20 Sept 2009...
Glebe Under 15's kept their 100pc record with a convincing 4-1 away at Phoenix.
Elyon scored a sensational first half hat trick , but the play all over the pitch was quite superb . Adil and Sam dominating in midfield.
Ben williams notched a 4th while they scored with the last kcik of the game.
Thank you to the referee who had an excellent game .
Match Report 6 Sept 2009...
Glebe FC 4 Corinthians 0 (Under 15's kent league)
Glebe got off to a flying start against talented Corinthians with a stunning 4-0 win, played at Bellingham Leisure Centre, Glebe certainly benefited from the flat wide pitch.
Striker Elyan opened the scoring after great pressure from the team. Glebe really played attractive open football and it was no surprise when we went further ahead from a stunning free kick from 'dead ball' Ted.
Veteran glebe star Ben scored twice in what turned out to be a perfect first game for the red and blacks.
Next week we visit Tonbridge Angels.
