MATCH REPORTSGlebe U10 Tigers 3 2 Balgowan FC (September 25, 2011)Triumphant Trio!A pulsating match at Southborough Lane saw the Tigers beat an outstanding Balgowan team. Both sides showed great levels of skill and played an exciting brand of football. The game stated evenly with both teams looking to pass the ball into space. The Tigers were working really well as a unit and looking to find a way to break through the solid Balgowan defending. There was equal pressure at both ends of the pitch with good clearances from Kevin, Matty and Cameron combined with another strong performance from Jake keeping the score level. At the other end of the pitch, Harvey, Josh and Archie all went close to no avail. The deadlock was broken by Balgowan who scored from a rebound following a great save from Jake. The Tigers didnt allow their heads to drop and worked hard to get back into the game. Great performances by Daejon, Jordan, Max and Cassius in midfield were rewarded just before half time when Jordan finished a great passage of play to equalise. The second half started with the Tigers looking to capitalise on their strong end to the first half. A great piece of flowing, attacking play saw then take a deserved lead when Josh scored a tremendous goal. Balgowan responded well and forced Jake into a series of outstanding saves. The game continued at a fantastic pace with both sides having chances. Where would the next goal come from? Balgowan capped off a terrific period of play with an equalising goal. They tried to press hoe the advantage and the Tigers had Jake, the defence and the cross bar to thank for keeping them on level terms. The Tigers were holding their own and looked increasingly dangerous on the break. A couple of chances went begging and then Hit Man Harvey struck a deserved winner. The boys and the crowd went wild with delight as the boys then played out the last few minutes to close the match out with an outstanding win. Thanks to Balgowan who played their part in a fantastic game of football.NJSGlebe U10 Tigers 1 1 Coney Hall Tigers (September 4, 2011)Tigers leave it late! The U9 Tigers left it late to come from behind to gain a draw in their first (friendly) match of the season against our old adversaries, Coney Hall. The match kicked off in pouring rain (well it is the summer holidays) with Coney Hall showing they had lost none of their bite with a couple of two footed challenges early in the game. To their credit the Tigers did not let themselves get sucked into this type of game and started to work the ball around playing some excellent football. All that was lacking was the final ball with some of the boys taking slightly too long with their final ball or decision making allowing Coney Hall to come back and defend. The majority of the chances in the first half fell to the Tigers but Kevin and Cameron had to remain on their toes as Coney Hall always look strong on the break. As the half drew to a close Coney Hall made a number of changes as the three boys who are on Millwalls books arrived (isnt there a song about Millwall?).The second half started with the Tigers again on the front foot. Coney Hall started to up the pressure as their Millwall three showed their quality. It was one of these balls who dissected the Tigers defence with an excellent through ball allowing Coney Hall to snatch the lead. The Tigers responded well and continued to probe. Once again, the final ball continued to be just too late allowing Coney Hall to continue to defend well.To their credit, heads didnt drop and the Tigers gained their reward right at the death. An outstanding through ball to Harvey allowed him to slot home showing that he hasnt lost his shooting boots. Coney Hall literally only had time to kick off again when the final whistle blew.A great start for the boys who showed the obvious quality they possess against a team who were runaway winners of their league last season. Lets kick on from here.NJS
