MATCH REPORTS02/10/2011Glebe Lions 12 Croydon FC 0What a blisteringly hot afternoon for our Lions to attempt to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. The first home game of the season ended in victory for the Lions, with yet another display of disciplined football. In the planned absence of George, Lions were down to 7 players. No substitutes available in the heat meant all players participated for the full 40 minutes. The opposition were very inexperienced and this was reflected by the 12 0 drubbing in which TJ scored 6, Johnny 4, Sam 1 and Zac 1. This included 2 penalties and numerous free kicks for reckless tackles by the opposition.The defence had little to do in this one sided match but a particularly good piece of defence by Zac earned him the Man of the Match award Well done. As captain, Alfie had few decisions to make with our 2 goal scoring machines in TJ and Johnny the role of captain seems really easy. Lets hope the opposition next week give us a few more challenges.Final Comments:26 goals for and 3 against in the first 3 league games must be some sort of record!! In defence and attack we have proved to be both solid and effective. Must say a big thank you to supporters today for your attendance in the unusual October heat and a very special thank you to Zacs mum for taking photos.Mike Piper
