MATCH REPORTS
After a long break due to the snow, Glebe travelled to Bromley to
play Junior Bromleians on quite a heavy pitch. Glebe started the game
brighter, with Tyreke and a few others going close. Shortly after the
pressure bought a goal, with a through ball played to Tyreke the flag
stayed down and his shot across goal beat the Bromleians Keeper and
nestled in the corner for the opener. It wasn't long before Glebe could
have doubled their advantage, as a long ball found Harry and he found
Dan who chose to round the Keeper but just as he was about to pull the
trigger a last ditch tackle from a defender stopped a certain goal.
Bromleians improved towards the break, and Jack was called to make a
couple of good saves to ensure that his team went into the break with
an advantage. It was an advantage that got even better as just before
the whistle went, Tyreke picked up the ball on the half-way line and
used sheer pace to beat two players before finishing off his run with a
similar finish that bought him the opener, a fantastic solo effort
capped off a fantastic first half for Glebe.
Bromleians knew that if they were to get back into this then they
would have to work hard and get an early got to force a grandstand
finish, they done just that when a through ball found the forward
causing confusion as the linesman originally flagged for offside but
when the referee waved play on, the Glebe seemed to freeze allowing the
unchallenged striker to fire past a helpless Jack in goal. Glebe
responded well and knew that sitting back for the next half an hour
would invite massive pressure on the defence, and shortly after
Bromleians' goal Tyreke found himself through on goal twice in quick
succession firstly the linesmen's flag denied him but the second time
his shot beat the Keeper, and then the post. In the latter stages
Bromleians tried to force an equalizer when a free-kick seemed to
travel through many Glebe bodies and into the path of a striker but
this time Jack was quick off his line to thwart the striker. Bromleians
could have had a late penalty when a Bromleians player seemed to be
bundled over in the box, but the referee waved away any protests. The
long awaited whistle finally went as Glebe celebrated a hard earned but
slender victory.
Glebe took a break from their league schedule to face Stanhope in
the Tandaridge Cup. It was quite a windy day which meant that long
balls could cause massive problems for both keepers. It was a poor
start for Glebe as a long ball found Stanhope's powerful forward and he
rifled the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Glebe didn't take
long to respond as virtually from the restart Tyreke was found with a
yard in the box and gave Stanhope's keeper no chance. Tom bravely went
into a challenge with Stanhope's forward but injured his knee in the
process so he had to be replaced by Jack. Stanhope then used the injury
break to their advantage and regrouped before getting two quick-fire
goals to put them 3-1 in front at the break. Glebe came out strongly in
the second half after an inspirational team talk by the assistant
manager Rob and quickly made up the deficit after leaking another goal
to Stanhope. The last quarter of the second half was all blood and
thunder as both sides searched for a winner. The game entered into
extra-time with Glebe very confident that they could snatch a winner,
unfortunately Stanhope raised the bar scored three goals in as many
minutes. But Glebe were still not done as Tyreke pulled one back to
delight all the parents who had showed great support throughout this
thriller of a cup tie. As the final whistle sounded both teams knew
they had been involved in a great cup-tie and respect was acknowledged
by both teams.

Glebe went into their next game away at high-flyers F.C. Elmstead on
a pitch that wasn't going to win the grounds man any awards. Glebe
started the brighter of the two sides, and just seconds after kick-off
Tyrone's 20-yard power drive thumped off the top of the woodwork. Glebe
continued to pile on the pressure and had chances to break down the
resilient Elmstead defence. Right on the stroke of half time, a corner
from the right found an Elmstead head and the flick was powerfully
converted to give Jack or the rest of the Glebe defence no chance.
Elmstead didn't mess about and shortly after break, the referee
awarded a dubious penalty which was hit straight down the middle to
double the home sides advantage. Elmstead were then happy to just keep
possession for a while until a corner which was curling goal wards
skimmed of Myles' shin and unluckily trickled into the net to shut the
game down as a contest. It wasn't long before Elmstead put the icing on
the cake, as a low cross was tapped in by the striker to complete the
flattering rout. Glebe though, didn't want to sit down and get beaten
as a long ball was spectacularly fired home by Tyrone to give the
visitors a well deserved consolation. Glebe couldn't quite muster a
comeback but their were plenty of positives to take from this defeat.

Glebe went into their next match against 4th in the table, prior to
this game Orpington Rovers at the Priory leisure centre which was
played on Astroturf. The game started evenly like a lot of Glebe's
previous matches this season, but midway through the first half a neat
bit of play found Tyreke whose shot left the Orpington keeper with
nothing to do except watch the ball fly in to the back of his net.
Straight after, Dan danced through the away penalty area and was
brought down for a penalty which was cooly slotted home to quickly
double Glebe's advantage. Orpington refused to be beaten though, as a
move down the left found Orpingtons powerful winger whose shot beat Tom
to half the deficit. Orpington enjoyed possession as the goal gave them
much confidence, and the confidence turned into a goal as an Orpington
player danced past most red shirts on the pitch and his effort found
the back of the net to surely see Orpington level at half-time. But,
from a corner Malachi peeled away from his marker to powerfully head
the ball past a helpless Orpington keeper to edge Glebe in front at the
break.
Orpington knew that if they wanted to get back in the game it wasn't
going to be easy, and it wasn't because early in the second half Tyreke
was put through and his first shot hit the keeper who could only spill
the shot straight back from where it came from and this time their was
no-one to stop Tyreke's shot rolling into the back of the net. Glebe
then knew it was their's to lose and they didn't as Tyreke notched
another two and Glebe leapfrogged Orpington to 4th spot in the South
division.
