MATCH REPORTS
Glebe Tigers v Wickham Wanderers
Result Glebe Tigers 5 3 Wickham Wanderers (Goal Scorers Lucas 2, Jack 2, Joe 1)
The Glebe boys started the stronger of the two teams for the opening five minutes; a combination of slick confident passing, strong tackling and hard work was putting Wickham under pressure. Henry, Lucas and Jack were unlucky not to score in the opening few minutes, all having good chances blocked by last ditched tackles.
Glebe looked comfortable at the back conceding a corner from the first real attack from Wickham. The resulting corner was fiercely struck and looked to be creeping in at the near post and in a desperate attempt to block the shot a penalty was conceded for handball. Thomas was unlucky with the resulting penalty, only managing to parry the ball into the back of the net.
After ten minutes of domination the boys found themselves 1-0 down and so came the fight back. The tigers continued to dominate the game and were stronger in every department Henry, Jack and Daniel were on top in midfield and it wasnt long before a good interchange of passing created a good chance for Lucas. Lucas received the ball of the edge of the box under pressure from two defenders; he composed himself and then rifled a shot high between the Wickham keeper and post, 1-1!
The Glebe boys confidence grew with the equaliser; Henry won the ball in the middle of the park and found Lucas on the right handside of the box. The ball sat up nicely and Lucas hit a sweet right foot lob/shot which sailed over the head of the Wickham Keeper, 2-1.
It was all one way traffic at this point with Wickham struggling to keep up with Glebes pace of attack. A desperate challenge from behind on Daniel resulted in a free kick midway between the box and the half way line, Joseph positioned the ball for a free kit, took a couple of steps backward and unleashed an unstoppable drive into the roof of the net, 3-1.
The boys were now in total control of the game, winning a corner after a long period of pressure. Jack swung in a wicked delivery and with pressure from Dennis and Jude the ball went straight in from the corner. Wickham came back strongly at this point and only one unbelievable save from Thomas at the feet of the Wickham striker and some defiant defending from the likes of Jude, Henry and Joseph meant the boys went in 4-1 to the good at half time
As expected the Wickham boys now with the wind behind them were testing the Glebe resolve, a good move through the middle resulted in them clawing a goal back to make the score 4-2 the next goal would be vital.
The Glebe boys were defending for long periods of the game now, Henry covering every blade of grass, Daniel Jude & Thomas making vital tackles and Dennis stopping a certain goal with his legs. Joseph snuffed out another attack, collected the ball and dropped his shoulder to create some space, spotting Jack and Lucas peeling away from their markers he floated long pass up to Jack. Lucas made a run into the box taking a defender with him; Jack stayed cool and drove a low hard shot across their keeper giving him no chance. Wickham scrambled in a late consolation but the game had been won! 5-3 to the Glebe Tigers! Well done boys, a well-deserved win everyone giving 100%.
Glebe Tigers 7:0 Selsdon Juniors
Here we go again
An awesome performance of course, with a result like 7-0, you would expect it.
It was literally seconds after kick off, and Lucas steals off with a great run, hustling his way through the defenders to land a brilliant right footer on the ball and puts the Tigers on the scoreboard. Not too long after, Jared followed with a left foot conversion from a cross received from Joe, a tidy tap in with his left which pretty much cemented the direction of the match.
A fairly dominant display by the boys, although they crowded around for the ball a fair bit, they need to give each other some space, and pass the ball a little bit more, and or release it when under pressure.
Lucas came to the fore again with another great tear away finishing a nice run with a right footer with 10 minutes left on the clock. There was little in the form of resistance from Selsdon, however they worked hard to keep the tigers at bay. Minutes before the first half is over Henry picks up a stray pass, and hustles his way through the box, a bit tight but with great speed and an accurate strike, placed the 4th goal in.
Second half kicked off with a quick run from Selsdon, but an unsuccessful attempt on our goal, however that was probably a one of two or three attempts that I can safely say put some pressure on the Tigers, but our defense were there to deal with it defiantly. There a great moment of communication between Jared, Daniel, Jack and Henry when Selsdon won a corner kick, and that is worth mentioning, because the boys showed a lot of maturity in that moment, and of course it was great to watch them organize themselves to deal with the corner kick. Superb!!
The second half was predominantly a one sided effort, with Glebe Tigers oushing on and Selsdon putting all their energy in defending. Our 5th Goal came when Joe picked up a pass from Jude, and took advantage of a fairly spacious 10 hard run, and finished with a great strike, that was a little too challenging for the Selsdon Goalie.
I think it is fair to say that Lucas sealed the deal with two more goals, one great run following a pass from Jared, and another which was a little bit lucky, as the Goalie just baffled with a crowded penalty box, and did not see a ball creep past, something of a comedy of errors, only our Tigers had the last laugh.
Well done all.
Glebe Tigers 5 West Wickham 2
Another Cracking Display by the Tigers , With 5 Goals in the 1st half , 3 by Jack & 2 by Henry.
The Peach of the bunch being a screamer struck out side the box hitting the top right corner of the Goal for Jacks 3rd.
Lucas up front, holding the ball up and creating space , so Jack in the middle could make 2 up front, with Henry & Daniel Causing mayhem down the wings bobbing and weaving was a pleasent sight 2 see
With Jude then Dennis Holding the Middle, Not Forgeting Joe the "ROCK" at the back tidying up & making the game look easy & Thomas "Safe Hands" in goal.
After a few Changes at 1/2 time , the pace and passing dropped off, and fair play 2 West Wickham they took there chances, which where down 2 our own sloppy 2nd half display.

A turnaround if youve ever seen one, and the early Christmas gift!!
Not normally the away I start these reports but here goes WE SHOULD HAVE WON!!! Simple(s)
First Half line up was a star line up, and what a game they had. Control, speed, focus and determination are key to win games, and the icing on the cake was the form, which was as flawless as an Under 7s team can get.
Jared, Jack, Henry and Lucas
in the middle, is a new strategy for the Tigers, but it paid dividends. With Jude & Dennis up front, supported whenever possible by the middle 4 and Joe at the back working his magic at clearing, controlling and getting rid of the ball, I honestly was expecting a win, a no brainer we thought.
The first half progressed with at least 75% of possession with Glebe, Coney Hall did not show any weaknesses at the back, and credit due to them they remained strong and focused on keeping out the goals. There were many great chances, and it was great to see Jared taking swipes at the goal from out side the box to maximise our potential of scoring. Lucas missed a few great chances but as mentioned Coney Halls defence was impenetrable.
The Tigers were locked in and piled on the pressure well in to the second half, but unfortunately for us a slip up by the defence, once again!!!! sending the ball back without seeing Coney Hall striker tailing behind, and gaining on the our goalie Henry and tapped it in (2nd Half). It was a purely a gifted goal which sent Coney Hall 1-0 in the lead, so here goes; Merry Xmas.
Lucas and Jared had a great opportunity up front, when Lucas struck the ball, and the goalie loosened his grip, Jared followed in to tap the ball in, and a defender blocked it, Lucas tried to hustle the defender, but by then the Goalie was back on his feet and recovered the ball from amidst a chaos of legs and boots, and we missed our last chance.
We are very proud of the Tigers performance this week, and well done to you all, keep up the hard work.

(Glebe Tigers) 2 : 5 (Coney Hall)
We are not sour losers, but this was a dismal performance, particularly because we know very darn well that we are capable of a lot more than standing around waiting for the goals to go through.
There was a lack of form, lack of passion, certainly a lack of interest, and as the game went on it was obvious to everyone that the Tiger spirit was no where to be found, and as such a progressive atrophy of interest in the game.
There is no need for further detail, the Tigers were missing, our tigers were not there to play Coney hall, so Coney hall were grateful for a practice match, End Of.
Better Luck next time boys and good effort Lucas & Jack for keeping us on the score sheet.
